Scope of Work
Project Overview
The Batch Oven Project for K-Flex Portugal involved the complete electrical and automation implementation of a batch thermal processing system used in rubber raw-material production. The project objective was to ensure precise temperature control, operational safety compliance, and reliable batch processing performance aligned with industrial manufacturing standards.
Project Scope
1. Electrical Panel Building
Design and fabrication of a dedicated control panel for the batch oven system, including power distribution, motor control components, PLC hardware, safety devices, and operator interface integration. The panel was engineered for maintainability, scalability, and industrial robustness.
2. Automation Programming
Development and commissioning of PLC and HMI software to manage:
- Batch recipe handling
- Temperature regulation and heating cycles
- Process sequencing and timing control
- Alarm management and diagnostics
- Operator interaction and production monitoring
The control philosophy ensured repeatable batch quality and optimized energy utilization during oven operation.
3. Safety Integration
Implementation of a fully integrated safety system compliant with industrial machinery safety requirements, including:
- Emergency stop circuits
- Safety interlocks for doors and access points
- Safe shutdown procedures
- Functional safety logic within the control system
This integration enhanced personnel protection while maintaining operational continuity.
4. Electrical Design & Wiring Documentation
Preparation of comprehensive electrical engineering documentation, including:
- Detailed wiring diagrams
- Power and control schematics
- I/O allocation and labeling standards
- As-built documentation for maintenance and future upgrades
5. Installation & Commissioning
On-site installation covering equipment mounting, field wiring, system integration, testing, and commissioning. Final validation ensured stable operation of the batch oven within production conditions.
