Yaskawa Sigma-7 SERVOPACK Repair

The Yaskawa Sigma-7 SERVOPACK is a motion-control drive used to regulate servo motor speed, torque, and position in high-precision industrial machinery.

Brand Yaskawa
Equipment SGD7S-1R6A00A
Equipment Category Sigma-7 SERVOPACK
Industry Pharma
Fault Reported
  • Servo drive reports encoder, overcurrent, power-stage, or axis-control faults and the axis cannot run normally.
Repair Turnaround Time Typical reference: 3–6 working days

The Challenge

Loss of the servo axis stopped accurate machine movement and prevented normal production cycles.

Diagnosis

  • The DC bus, IGBT stage, driver board, current feedback, encoder interface, control power, communication circuitry, and cooling system were evaluated.

Our Solution

  • Failed electronic components were replaced where required, PCB defects and solder joints were restored, cooling was serviced, and the drive was tested with compatible feedback or motor simulation.

Testing Performed

  • Power-up test; DC-bus test; power-stage test; encoder/feedback test; communication test; axis enable test; thermal burn-in.

Final Result

The reference repair process restores normal functional operation after the unit passes the defined electrical, communication, motion, or load checks applicable to the equipment.

Common Fault Codes & Causes

  • A.100 – Overcurrent detected: Power transistor overcurrent/overheat, motor/cable short or power-stage issue.
  • A.101 – Motor overcurrent detected: Motor current exceeded allowable value; overload, jam, motor/cable fault.
  • A.300 – Regeneration error: Regeneration circuit/resistor or regenerative energy issue.
  • A.320 – Regenerative overload: Excessive regenerative duty or undersized/brake resistor issue.
  • A.400 – Overvoltage: Main-circuit DC voltage too high; supply/regeneration/deceleration issue.
  • A.410 – Undervoltage: Main-circuit DC voltage too low; supply/phase/input issue.
  • A.510 – Overspeed: Motor exceeded maximum speed; command, tuning or feedback problem.
  • A.710 – Instantaneous overload: Large short-duration torque overload, brake not released or mechanical jam.
  • A.720 – Continuous overload: Sustained torque/load above motor rating or inadequate thermal conditions.
  • A.810 – Encoder backup alarm: Encoder power loss or encoder backup/absolute data problem.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Inspect motor and feedback cables, maintain cabinet cooling, prevent overloads, check grounding, and investigate repeated fault codes before continued operation.
